Read what the gnome says
Headstand with horizontal legs! From headstand, lower the legs to horizontal, keeping the weight in the forearms, not the neck. Core firm, legs together. Only with a steady headstand. Breathe, then lift back up. Upside-down gnome.
Works on Core · Shoulders · Hip flexors
How to do it
- Practise a steady supported headstand first.
- Lower the legs together until they are level with the floor, hips staying over the shoulders.
- Press the forearms down, keep the core strong and hold briefly; lift the legs up to come out.
Common mistakes
- Don’t go in without a steady headstand.
- Don’t put weight on the neck.
- Don’t hold the breath.
Benefits
- Changes your view and wakes up the shoulders and core.
- Builds strength and body awareness.
- Calms the mind once it feels steady.
Take care: Skip if you have neck problems, high blood pressure, glaucoma, or are menstruating or pregnant. Come down if you feel pressure in the head.
Not medical advice. Ease off if anything feels sharp or wrong.
