Low Tree Pose! Stand on one leg and place the other foot on the ankle, toes touching the floor if you need support. Hands at the heart, spine tall. Breathe, find your balance, then switch. Little sapling gnome.

Works on Quadriceps · Glutes · Calves

How to do it

  1. Stand tall and shift the weight onto one foot.
  2. Place the other foot against the ankle, toes on the floor if you wobble.
  3. Bring the palms to the heart, grow tall and hold; switch sides.

Common mistakes

  • Don’t lock the standing knee.
  • Don’t push the hip out.
  • Don’t hold the breath.

Benefits

  • Builds strength and steadiness in the legs.
  • Improves posture and balance.
  • Wakes up the whole body: good early in a practice.

Take care: Go easy or skip if you have knee, ankle or hip pain, or feel dizzy. Keep a wall or chair within reach for balance.

Not medical advice. Ease off if anything feels sharp or wrong.
