Tripod Headstand! Place the hands and head on the floor, forming a triangle. Walk the feet in, lift the legs slowly, and keep the weight in the hands. Core firm. Use a wall. Breathe, then lower with control. Upside-down, three-pointed gnome.
Works on Deltoids · Trapezius · Abdominals
How to do it
- Set up a tripod headstand with the hands and crown on the floor.
- Lift the legs up with the core, keeping the elbows over the wrists.
- Lift the hands off the floor if you are steady, hold briefly and come down slowly.
Common mistakes
- Don’t lift the hands until the headstand is calm.
- Don’t put weight on the neck.
- Don’t practise away from a wall until you are steady.
Benefits
- Changes your view and wakes up the shoulders and core.
- Builds strength and body awareness.
- Calms the mind once it feels steady.
Take care: Skip if you have neck problems, high blood pressure, glaucoma, or are menstruating or pregnant. Come down if you feel pressure in the head.
Not medical advice. Ease off if anything feels sharp or wrong.
