Read what the gnome says
Lion Pose! Kneel, hands on the knees. Inhale through the nose, then exhale with the mouth wide, tongue out toward the chin, and eyes looking up. Keep the face, jaw and chest relaxed. Roar out the tension. Breathe, fierce little gnome.
Works on Facial muscles · Platysma · Tongue
How to do it
- Kneel and sit back on the heels, hands pressing on the knees with the fingers spread like claws.
- Inhale deeply through the nose, lifting the chest.
- Exhale with a roar, opening the mouth wide, tongue out toward the chin and eyes wide; repeat a few times.
Common mistakes
- Don’t strain the jaw or throat: keep the roar relaxed.
- Don’t sit on painful knees: place a cushion between thighs and calves.
- Don’t hunch the shoulders.
Benefits
- Stretches the thighs and the front of the hips.
- Opens the chest and eases the back.
- Grounding and calm.
Take care: Go easy or skip if you have knee pain. Pad under the knees and shins with a blanket.
