Read what the gnome says
Revolved Triangle! Stand with the legs wide, front leg forward, hips square. Fold and place the opposite hand on a block, then twist the chest open and lift the other arm. Keep the spine long. Breathe, then switch sides. Spiraling gnome.
Works on Obliques · Hamstrings · Piriformis
How to do it
- Step the feet about one leg-length apart, hips square, back foot angled.
- Hinge forward, place the opposite hand on the floor or a block and twist the chest open.
- Reach the top arm up and hold, keeping both legs strong; switch sides.
Common mistakes
- Don’t lock the front knee.
- Don’t force the twist by rolling the hips.
- Don’t crunch the neck.
Benefits
- Gently mobilises the spine.
- Stretches the back, hips and shoulders.
- Leaves the back feeling fresh and long.
Take care: Go easy or skip if you have back or neck pain, or are pregnant. Twist from the whole spine, not by cranking the neck or lower back.
